Unobtrusively Storm watched Shivas work with Blackbird. He knew she was well-familiar with Shedu cats. She'd trained FAR more cats than he probably ever would... But that didn't stop him from watching to make sure Blackbird was doing okay. The black cat was doing admirably under the woman's ministrations. She was tense, yes, but considering she'd hardly seen Shivas since she was but a few months old, it could have been a lot worse...

Storm sighed in relief. He had been afraid the black female would revert to her withdrawn self when he wasn't the one riding her, but that fear proved to be groundless - so far.

The race had started and Electra had taken the lead as was usual between the two females. Blackbird simply liked to follow Electra. For a moment, Storm stopped worrying about the black female and enjoyed the feeling of rippling muscles under his legs as Electra's flexible spine flexed and extended. Storm loved Blackbird and he would surely miss her terribly, but Electra would always be his favourite Shedu.

So caught up in his thoughts about the two females Storm was, it took him a moment to notice a black shape passing him.

It was Blackbird! And she was passing Electra far earlier than Storm had ever expected her to. Shivas looked back at them and despite the fact that Storm couldn't see her face, he was sure she was grinning at them.

'We'll see about that!' Storm thought to himself. But inwardly he was grinning. Blackbird would be just fine under Shivas.
